The Dalsland Canal lake system is the perfect environment for canoeing, with a maze of vast lakes featuring archipelago landscape, long, narrow lakes and fjords and small, enchanting rivers and waterways.
You can either paddle a short distance over a weekend or take an extended trip lasting several weeks. All the while you’ll experience and discover something new, exciting and unexplored. If you have a good grounding of the wilderness, you’ll also notice the wild species in close proximity, such as moose and deer, foxes, lynx and wolves. The area is also rich in bird life, with species you only find in books and on posters. And there is plenty of excellent fishing available in the area.
To experience the excitement and variation of the natural landscape and ensure a successful trip, take the time to prepare, plan in advance and use good quality equipment. A good canoe map is a must.
