Railway services

Making your way into the heart of the wilderness, and travelling long distances far away from roads or traffic is a truly special feeling. The landscape here is varied, spanning unspoilt woodland, open landscapes and large and small lakes, with stunning views to be found all around.

Draisine

A warm welcome to the Railway of Beautiful Views (DVVJ)

The Foundation began to provide draisine rental in 1986, mainly from Bengtsfors, but also from the local office in Årjäng during the summer.

Whether you’re renting for one or a few days, taking a short trip or pedalling the entire route between Bengtsfors and Årjäng, this really is a truly unique experience. The full route spans 52 kilometres, and can be combined with canoeing.

Railcar

The DVVJ foundation resumed railcar services between Bengtsfors and Mellerud in June 1987 following the Government’s decision to stop passenger services in 1985.

Railcars dating from the 1950s are in service during the summer months, in combination with canal boat trips along the Dalsland Canal. The trip passes by the HÅVERUD AQUEDUCT, the most popular tourist attraction in Dalsland.
